‘Lacuna’
A lacuna is an absence of a word in a particular language, an unfilled space or interval. As such in this work I have utilised and re-ordered the unfilled space, not large or small only defined by presence and absence. The space in which my work exists is in the optical, memorial or psychological space, inside or outside.
Time, space, duration and repetition are integral throughout my work, from the hours demanded by its production to that spent navigating the space.
My work holds an empathy for site and engages the viewer in the re-ordering of space.
